The Creation of the World
1 In the abeginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was bwithout form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
What does this really say? It's pretty straightforward. Let's look at the 5W's and an H that we learned about in elementary school.
When: In the beginning. There was nothing before this point. This is the definition of when time actually started for us.
Who: God, as creator and spirit. (Spoiler - vs. 26 tells us Jesus was there, too!)
What: He created the heavens and the Earth. There was nothing before this point. There was no time and there were no materials. God does not even need to give credit for materials to make something.
There was just nothing. Darkness. Not even a ray of light. There was no form.
Where: Where is actually starting to take place. The heavens and the earth. God created the where. Remember when you asked Mom where something was and she said, "It's gotta be somewhere." Well, not in the beginning. There was no "somewhere."
Why and How: To be continued!
